Hello again to the core supporters of the Acoustic Ecology Institute. I hope that this quarterly "distilled version" of the AEI website helps you stay connected to our work, and to your interest in our sounding world. The links to the left will take you to four other pages, each of which features recent highlights from the AEI website.
Click on over to Institute Update to hear about the latest activities here at AEI. Then check out Recent Science Findings for lay summaries of key new research, Soundbytes for news from around the world, and Listening on the Web for links to interesting sound-related sites. Of course, by following the links at the top of the page, you can dive into the full (and rather sprawling) AEI website.
If you're in the mood to listen to the "voice of the planet," then you'll want to click over to the New and Improved EarthEar website. Two years after closing EarthEar's online catalog of over a hundred natural sound CDs from labels all over the world (and putting all my energy into AEI), the site is back, with way more online sound, including EarthEar Radio pop out music player, and an audio blog featuring great recordings and videos from sound artists in EarthEar's far-flung network. This arts project was the initial foundation for the emergence of AEI, and remains an important complementary expression of my commitment to spreading awareness about the state of our soundscapes.
Please be in touch with your questions, comments, suggestions, or friendly hellos. And please, click over there to the left and renew your membership for 2010!
Until next time,
Jim Cummings
AEI Founder
P.S.
While this quarterly bulletin is designed for members, please feel free to point friends to this page if you think they might enjoy hearing about the Institute. This collection of pages provides a concise introduction to what we're up to.
