The Quarterly Bulletin of the Acoustic Ecology Institute

Number 6
May 2007
Hello again to the core supporters of the Acoustic Ecology Institute. I hope that this quarterly "distilled version" of the AEI website is helping you stay connected to our work, and to your interest in our sounding world. Of course, by following the links at the top of the page, you can dive into the full (and increasingly sprawling) Institute website.

I am sure that all of you are having your own versions of the annual return to the outdoors world, meeting again familiar and much-loved places around your homes, welcoming the sights, smells, and sounds of this turning time. Today is Beltaine, May Day, a day to celebrate the abundance of the spring. Here in the foothills of the southern Rockies, that abundance includes the high-pitched diving wing-whirring of hummingbirds, the soft hum of tiny bees adding a nearly transparent sonic wash to the bushy fragrant beauty of fruit trees abloom, and, last night, the first thunderstorm of the year passing by to our south, its gentle rumbling thuder-rolls and occasional cloud-glowing bursts of lightning expanding the body of this landscape into the sky above.

May we each find our own ways to take in the fresh promise of all that is new, and, from that place of wonder and gratitude, to contribute to the renewal that the world is calling from us in these times.

Jim Cummings
AEI Founder

P.S.
While this quarterly bulletin is designed for members, please feel free to point friends to this page if you think they might enjoy hearing about the Institute. This collection of pages provides a concise introduction to what we're up to.

Membership Renewal Reminder

If you joined AEI when we first put out the call last fall or winter, now's the time to consider renewing for another year.

Simply click over to the JOIN ONLINE page and re-ante-up! You can choose to receive another CD, or simply offer your financial support.

There is no "renewal" button, but I'll recognize your name and know you're a returning supporter.

Many thanks in advance.....
